Bug Bonkers has no score to lose and nothing scary: kids just squish bugs, collect stickers and find every bug, sound and giant. Tools get tired with use and rest when you switch to another one.
The tools
- π¦Ά Foot
- Tap to stomp. Squishes everything under it. Careful: stepping on a bee, wasp or scorpion says "OUCH!"
- π₯ Rolling Pin
- Tap and it rolls across the screen. Hold and drag to push it around (it tires after about 8 seconds). Swipe fast to throw it. Everything squished in one drag-and-throw counts as one hit.
- π§Ή Vacuum
- Press and hold. It revs up for a moment, then sucks in bugs near your finger. It never hurts kittens. Giants are too big to suck up.
- βοΈ Scissors
- Tap right on one bug: two quick snips (3 dots of damage) cut it in half. Only hits the bug under your finger.
- π Fish
- Tap for a big wet slap over a wide area, then the fish flops around a few more times. 1 slap in 20 is a rare Golden Fish: a huge slap and 8 flops.
- β‘ Zapper
- Tap near bugs: lightning jumps from bug to bug, branching as it goes (15 bugs, 25 in a Sugar Rush). Hold it down to keep zapping, and drag to aim.
- π₯’ Tongs
- Tap a bug for a light pinch. Hold on to keep squeezing harder and harder until it POPS (the bug is lifted above your finger so you can watch, and you can carry it around). Pinch a giant to yank off a leg!
- π¨ Sledgehammer
- Tap for a huge WHOMP: flattens everything under it, cracks the floor, shakes the screen and knocks nearby bugs flying. Slow to recharge.
- πΈ Frog
- Tap to put a frog down. It hops toward crowds and eats bugs with its tongue for 30 seconds. After 10 bugs it BURPS (squishing everything nearby). If it eats a cotton candy bug it becomes a Rainbow Frog for a while. Tap the frog to send it away early.
Things that happen
- π Sugar Rush
- Pink and purple bugs are cotton candy. Squish one and for 8 seconds ten times as many bugs pour in, and every tool hits harder.
- 𦣠Giants
- Every minute or so a giant bug arrives (8 kinds). It takes lots of hits and bursts into babies when beaten.
- πͺ£ Big arrivals
- A bucket of bugs, a beehive, an anthill, a spider egg sac, a bug parade, or (at night) a swarm of fireflies.
- π Night
- Every so often it gets dark. Touch the screen to shine a light. Squished fireflies leave a glow for 10 seconds.
- π₯ Bug parade
- A long line of ants marches across to a drum beat. Squish as many as you can!
- π₯ Combos
- Squish bugs one right after another (quicker than a blink apart) to build a COMBO ΓN.
- π₯· Assassin Beetle
- A ninja beetle that hunts other bugs on its own.
- π± Kittens
- Kittens wander through. Don't squish them (they cry, but are never hurt). They run away from a finger and lick up goo.
The buttons at the top
- π Bug Book
- Every bug found (with a fun fact), stickers (with progress toward each), recorded sounds (tap one to hear it again; the ? tells how to unlock it), and Records (best hit, best combo and other personal bests).
- π¨ Places
- Kitchen, Picnic, Garden and Bathroom, each with its own favorite bugs.
- 𧽠Sponge
- Tap, then drag your finger to wipe up the goo. Tap again when done.
- π΅ Music
- Music on or off. Sound effects and voices stay on (turn the phone's volume up).
- π― Bug Hunt
- The card at the top gives a small goal. Finishing one recharges every tool. β» picks a different hunt.
For grown-ups
Progress is saved on this device only. To erase everything, open the Bug Book and use "Start overβ¦" at the bottom (it asks twice). This guide opens by pressing and holding the "My Bug Book" title.
